No financial aid for a $77900/year school?

Just got my financial aid summary and they're literally giving me $0. My parents make about $150-160k before tax, so it's about over half their income; it's completely unaffordable unless I take out >100k in loans. It's ridiculous how blatantly this school values sports, crazy architecture, administrator salaries, etc. over helping their students afford the school. Especially in light of the recent admissions scandal, it really shows that USC is only really benefiting their richest students—the ones who least benefit from this quality of education. I'll call them to see if there's been a mistake, but not expecting much.

2020-2021 USC Transfer

My daughter was invited to the Trojan Transfer plan for this upcoming year but is not really wanting to give up the U.S "college" experience. She got into UCLA but declined for a few reasons but is now thinking that probably would have been her best bet to transfer into SC. Right now she has heard Santa Monica City College has the most success in getting students into SC but she was accepted into the Honors College at Washington State University (where she is leaning towards) and is confused at which would be the best option. Seems to me a four year university with rigorous classes and great grades would be better than a city college but I am in the dark on all of this. ANY guidance would be helpful! Thank you. I'm such a rookie I didn't even realize you could appeal the denial. She would have excelled at an interview!

This is some of the best news to come out of USC in a while. The incoming president was also provost at Dartmouth before going to the University of North Carolina. https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-usc-business-school-dean-upenn-wharton-20190611-story.html Fight on!

Chances for USC?

Hi, I am an out of state applicant, incoming high school senior. USC is my dream school and I have done visits as well as contacted admissions counselors. My ACT is a 35 but my GPA, unfortunately, has suffered this year from mental health issues along with not getting on meds for my ADHD until this school year ended. I had a good mix of A's and B's my freshman and sophomore year (all honors and AP classes) but junior year (due to my personal stuff but with 3 AP classes) dropped to mostly B's and C's. Will be a 3.5 weighted and 2.9 unweighted, not accounting for senior year which I hope they will at least see an upward trend then. Taking mostly AP/honors senior year and hoping to get straight A's. I will explain my issues with GPA in my application. Ideally, I want to do something in pediatrics but undecided for my major as of right now. ECs: 10-week internship at children's hospital this summer Special Needs Athletic Program (club) Medical Science Club (I started a big fundraiser for the children's hospital as a part of it) Long term job Leader for three different programs for freshmen in my school, as well as a leadership role in our school's pre-K program all four years of high school I also am planning on retaking my two classes which I got the lowest grades in online this summer. With a good essay and recommendations, is there a shot for me? EDIT: If USC is a no-go, what would be my chances for U of I, IU, ASU, SDSU, Clemson, UCLA, Miami Ohio, Syracuse? Thanks!

Please Help with transferring into usc

Hi! I am planning on beginning a 4 year university this fall. However this university does not have many of the things I was looking for in a college. I’m still planning on attending and giving this college a chance because my parents really really wanted me to give it a chance but I am almost positive I will end up transferring! 1. I am going to work as hard as I can to get a 4.0 gpa first and second semester but what else do colleges want to see from transfer students? Do clubs help? 2. What do you need to get a scholarship as a usc transfer student? 3.will usc look back at hs gpa and test scores if you apply to transfer for your sophomore year? Because i won’t have 30 credits by the time I send in the application but I will about a month or two later. Thank you for helping!

Legacy or Scion Status

Is very important and holds a tremendous amount of weight be careful who you receive information from... From USC SCion website: However, it’s important to us that our population of Scions is represented among the entering class; roughly 19 percent of the first-year students joining USC for the 2017-2018 school year are Scions. But, legacy status is, on its own, not going to be the deciding factor in the evaluation of a student’s application. There are many factors that we are considering when making our decisions, and legacy status is just one part of that. For those good at Math, you’ll quickly understand

USC Spring Admits 2019

Congrats Spring Admits! Opening up this thread so thoughts about spring admission could be centralized and shared. Some people are thrilled to get into USC anyway they can, and others are disappointed with the thought of missing that freshman move in and first fall at their 4 year U. Some will save money taking classes at a cc, others may work, travel, go abroad with a USC sister university or hang out. Some will say heck no and some will say heck yeah. No wrong answer! They also have a spring term orientation, so you come in just like a new student and aren't left to figure things out on your own. It seems many use Santa Monica CC and/or live close enough to USC so they can take part in fall football events/activities. Spring admits may purchase student section football passes. There are private owned complexes like Gateway that some live at which is right across the street. You get student housing when you start in spring, and they generally put spring admits together. Maybe you can make your first spring admits friends connecting here or on any other site that opens up about coming to USC in the spring. Here are two links from USC and a couple CC threads from last year for more information: https://admission.usc.edu/admitted-students/fall-opportunities-for-spring-admits/ https://admissionblog.usc.edu/5-questions-answered-about-spring-admission/ https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1975716-usc-spring-2018-admits-p1.html https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/2066667-usc-spring-admission-p3.html

I got admitted as a transfer, and I already submitted my SIR(commitment) to USC two weeks ago. However, I decided to attend another university, unfortunately. How do I withdraw from USC in this case? I've already looked onto my portal but I couldn't find any tabs to withdraw. I did not sign up for any orientation and classes yet. Thank you in advance!
